Yes, while this piece is focused specifically on why we need housing, infrastructure investment is important to support our existing population and certainly any growth. Transportation and public infrastructure are both called out in the housing platform that captures my recommended policies.
At the same time, I don’t think it’s true that our current infrastructure caps our population at the current level, and I’m not sympathetic to the “let’s build a bunch of infrastructure first, then we can build homes.” We need to do it in concert. I like the approach of the More HOMES act (and SB-827, it’s precursor) in orienting density around transit. Plenty of places, like Glen Park with its BART station, have excellent access to transit but still enforce low density for neighborhood character reasons.
